Canned Goods Drive

LENTEN CANNED FOOD DRIVE

The Deacons of Culver City Presbyterian Church ask for your generous support of our
Lenten Canned Food Drive
between now and Easter Sunday.
The food will be donated to St. Joseph Center’s Food Pantry at 204 Hampton Drive in Venice, CA.

CCPC supports St. Joseph Center throughout the year and your donated canned goods end up in a weekly bag of food offered
to clients who must be housed and are low income according to federal guidelines.
In addition, their clients receive case management to achieve specific goals and objectives leading towards self sufficiency.

In the last quarter of 2008 there were about 400 clients a week picking up grocery bags from the Food Pantry
which is a 25% increase. Overall, the number of bags distributed in the last four months of 2008 was up about 11% versus
the same period in 2007 (that’s equal to 560 additional grocery bags). October 2008 was the busiest month at the pantry
in eight years with 1,819 bags distributed and every month since then there has been significantly increased demand.

St. Joseph Center has been affected by the economic climate with the increasing costs for food at Bread and Roses Café due
to more clients seeking meals and the decrease in some foundation and individual donations.
With all these difficulties, St. Joseph Center has been blessed with about 400 dedicated volunteers,
who help out in our various programs.

Please refer to the Food Pantry Donation List and give generously during the Lenten season to this worthwhile cause
that directly helps those in our community.
